description Digimon Rumble Arena

Digimon Rumble Arena (デジモンテイマーズ バトルエボリューション, Dejimon Teimāzu Batoru Eboryūshon?, Digimon Tamers Battle Evolution) is a crossover fighting video game developed and published by Bandai in association with Hudson Soft for the PlayStation video game console. It was released in Japan on December 6, 2001 and in North America on February 24, 2002. Players are able to choose from up to 24 characters (fifteen of which need to be unlocked) from the Digimon Adventure and Digimon Tamers seasons of the Digimon anime, such as Terriermon, Agumon, Gatomon, and Renamon.

Digimon Rumble Arena is truely for the younger age groups. The Graphics are choppy, and the Music is very corny. There is no story, in fact, you have no idea why you are even fighting, other than to kick another persons Digi-butt. There is a Boss, but you have no idea who he is or why he is there. The only clues are in the begining CG which also doesn’t have any point – other than you are supose to compete.

I cannot complain about everything though, which is why I gave it a 2 instead of a 1 or 0. Fighting “as” your favorite popular Digimon, instead of barking out orders, is pretty cool. The creators had a good idea with that, and I think if they have another version someday it could be much better. I must say though, the Digivolution is way off, Rookies going to Mega, and some Rookies going to Champion is too messed up. Stingmon should not be equal to Wargreymon or Imperialdramon. Not to mention – Imperialdramon is a Hybrid.

Attacking and using Defense is remarkably easy. There are few moves, so there’s nothing to really practice or learn. It takes the fun out of fighting, when you can’t have combos. Once you beat all of the Oponents with all of the Rookie Digimon – you’re done. I heard someone once say, that the people who worked on this Game knew nothing about Digimon, and I must say, I agree entirely. Rent it first before thinking about buying. Or if Rumble Arena Two is out, get that one instead.
